September of 1985
marked the opening of Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School. Nearly
forty years earlier, Notre Dame College School was founded in
Welland by the School Sisters of Notre Dame and the Holy Cross
Fathers. When the Lincoln County Roman Catholic Separate School
Board decided to extend P.K. Kerwin Junior High School into a full
secondary school, the pending name change was considered a
significant factor in emphasizing its newness as well as its linkage
with the established traditions of the past. In a gesture of
gracious acknowledgment for the many years of service of those
religious who served in our schools, our school board named the new
school, "Holy
Cross Catholic Secondary".
The name will stand as a reminder that we must all reaffirm our
commitment to the spirit which has given us forty years of healthy
growth, and accept, once again, the same challenge to look to the
future with hope and full assurance of continued success.

From Past to Present
Former Staff at
Holy Cross will meet at the original location of Holy Cross (Now
St. Francis Catholic High School). Alumni are invited to visit the
first home of Holy Cross from 4:30-6 pm. A remembrance prayer
service will take place at 6 pm, at which point all alumni are
invited to go the current location of Holy Cross Catholic
Secondary for an Alumni BBQ and Family Night. Food and beverages
will be available. In addition, inflatables and music will be
provided for children in attendance.

The Biggest Evening
of the Anniversary Weekend. Come and celebrate at 460 Linwell
Road, the Home of Holy Cross Catholic Secondary.
Doors Open at 7 pm, and food, beverages, and entertainment will be
available. Alumni can tour the building and reminisce among
various areas of the school. Furthermore, we will have five
specific eras celebrating our 25 years in Catholic Education.
